Task-Level Planned Progress Calculation Now Available in PPO!

PPO is excited to introduce a key enhancement that brings greater accuracy and alignment to project progress tracking—Planned Progress Calculation at the Task Level!

How This Improves Your Task Management

  • No More MSP Imports Required – With planned progress now calculated directly in PPO, there’s no longer a need to rely on MSP imports for accurate progress tracking.
  • Accurate Roll-Up of Planned Progress – Task-level percentages now seamlessly roll up to summary tasks and the overall project.
  • More Transparency for Teams – Users who don’t rely on MSP for scheduling can now access consistent, up-to-date progress insights.
  • Simplified Tracking & Reporting – With planned progress calculations available directly in PPO, project tracking is now easier and more efficient than ever.

Previously, PPO only calculated planned progress at the project level by summing up the Planned Duration field of all tasks in the Tasks entity. This calculation only included tasks categorised as “Task”—excluding summary tasks, milestones, and the project task.

While the project-level planned progress fields updated in real time, task-level planned progress was only available as of the last MSP import when an MSP project schedule was used. For task imports done via the Task Import Sheet, no planned progress at the task level was included. Similarly, manually added tasks did not have planned progress calculations. With this enhancement, PPO now calculates planned progress at the task level real time, ensuring a more precise ability to track task slippage on every individual task.
