We are pleased to announce the availability of our brand new User Management API which is supplemental to our existing Integration API. The User Management API, as the name suggests, allows you to manage all aspects around users including the ability to create users, modify users, extract user details and even resetting passwords.
Detailed documentation
The API specification and detailed guidance on how to use the API is available here.
When would you use it?
In enterprise scenarios, PPO offers single sign-on using SAML. This provides a seamless experience for users that are already logged into the corporate network. However, in some cases, clients are not able to implement SAML but still want the ability to have control over the users that can access PPO. The User API allows you to do this.
Automatically adding users
By using the API, you can automatically add users to PPO when they are added to your internal ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services) or LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) directory. Your internal service would simply, in response to an event, make a call to the PPO User Management API to add the user.
Automatically removing users
Similarly, when an employee leaves the employ of the company, you can trigger an event which automatically removes the user from PPO by flagging them as inactive.
Reporting
The PPO User API also allows you to extract details of all users that are currently on PPO. This allows you to create internal reporting to allow you to better manage your PPO user base.
